We are delighted to announce the preparation of a special walking lecture through Antwerp, dedicated to the lesser-known theatrical and dance history of this city. Led by Anastasia Kholodilova, a cultural history expert in Antwerp, this lecture promises to captivate even the most knowledgeable listeners.

During this tour, you’ll discover fascinating facts about prominent figures connected to Antwerp—from the great ballet master Marius Petipa to the story of Valery Panov, the leading dancer of the Mariinsky Theatre, who became the first to leave the Soviet Union before Nureyev, Makarova, or Baryshnikov. You’ll also learn why Jeanne Brabants chose the teaching method of Agrippina Vaganova, which ballet masters worked here, which ballets were created, and how this has influenced the dance culture of the region.
